Acceptable Use & Prohibited Items
Effective 16 October 2026
This policy sets out what can't be sold or posted on Around and how everyone must behave. It forms part of our Seller Terms and Customer Terms. If you break it, we may remove content, pause selling, cancel orders or close accounts.
Prohibited items
You must not sell, offer or advertise:
- Alcohol, unless you hold a premises licence (or temporary event notice) covering the sale and a personal licence holder authorises it, and you carry out age checks at collection. [CONFIRM: whether alcohol is allowed at all at launch.]
- Raw (unpasteurised) drinking milk or cream, which can only be sold in England and Wales by registered producers directly, and can't be sold in Scotland.
- Wild or foraged mushrooms and fungi, or other foraged plants, unless identified and sold by a business with the appropriate expertise and controls.
- Products containing CBD, cannabis, hemp extracts or other controlled substances, and novel foods that aren't authorised for sale in Great Britain.
- Meat, fish, eggs or dairy products that require approval from a local authority or the Food Standards Agency (for example, some cured, smoked or processed products supplied to other businesses), unless you hold that approval.
- Food supplements, slimming products or medicines, or anything sold with medical or health claims that aren't authorised.
- Pet food or anything not intended for human consumption.
- Food that is past its use-by date, recalled, or that you know or suspect is unsafe.
- Anything that isn't food or drink you made or prepared, unless it's packaging or a small accompaniment to your food.
- Anything on Stripe's list of prohibited and restricted businesses, or anything else that is illegal to sell in the UK.
If you're unsure whether something is allowed, ask us before listing it.
Honest selling
- Describe your food accurately, including size, quantity, ingredients and allergens, and use photos of your actual products.
- Don't make claims such as "organic", "vegan", "gluten-free", "nut-free" or "homemade" unless they're true and you can support them.
- Show the full price up front and don't add surprise charges at collection.
- Don't run drops you don't intend to fulfil.
Reviews
- Customers must only review orders they've actually received.
- Sellers must not write reviews of their own food, ask friends or family to, pay for reviews, offer anything in return for a positive review, or pressure customers to change or remove reviews.
- We may remove reviews that are fake, abusive, irrelevant or include personal information.
Behaviour
Everyone using Around must not:
- harass, threaten, abuse or discriminate against anyone, including sellers, customers and our staff;
- post content that is unlawful, offensive, misleading, or that infringes anyone's intellectual property or privacy;
- share other people's personal information without permission, or use customer details for anything except fulfilling orders and marketing they've agreed to;
- send spam or contact people who have unsubscribed;
- place fake orders, abuse discounts or gift cards, or attempt payment fraud;
- try to get into accounts or systems you're not authorised to use, test our security without permission, or interfere with the service;
- scrape, copy or harvest data from Around, or access it using bots or automated tools; or
- take transactions off Around to avoid our fees after a customer has found you through Around.
Reporting a problem
- Food safety concerns: use "Report a concern" on the seller's page. If someone is seriously ill, call 999 or NHS 111 first. You can also contact the local council's environmental health team.
- Anything else that breaks this policy, including content that infringes your rights: email support@around.co.uk with the link and details.
We review reports promptly and may take action including removing content, pausing selling and, where appropriate, informing the authorities.
