Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies Around uses on around.co.uk and portal.around.co.uk, and how you can control them. It should be read with our Privacy Notice.

What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in a similar way. Some are strictly necessary to make the site work. Others, such as analytics, are optional, and we only use them if you agree.

Strictly necessary

These are needed for the features you ask for, so they don't require consent. You can block them in your browser, but parts of Around won't work.

• around_consent (around.co.uk): remembers your cookie choices. Kept for 6 months.
• around_customer (around.co.uk): keeps you signed in to your customer account after you use a sign-in link. Expires when your session ends or after a short period.
• around:basket:v1 (local storage, around.co.uk): remembers what's in your basket on a seller's page.
• around:waitlist-joined (local storage, around.co.uk): remembers that you've joined the waitlist so we don't ask again.
• Firebase Authentication and Google reCAPTCHA (around.co.uk, waitlist only): verify your phone number and protect the waitlist from automated abuse. Only used when you open the waitlist form.
• Stripe (checkout.stripe.com): Stripe sets its own cookies on its secure payment pages to process payments and prevent fraud.

Seller portal (portal.around.co.uk)

• Supabase sign-in cookies (named sb-…-auth-token): keep you securely signed in.
• around_business: remembers which business you're working in if you belong to more than one.
• around-theme: remembers whether you chose light or dark mode.
• around_impersonation (Around staff only): marks a time-limited, logged support session.

Analytics (optional)

On our marketing pages (the home page and invest page), and only if you select "Accept all" or turn on analytics, we load Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics. These set cookies such as _ga and ga… (kept for up to 2 years) to count visits and understand how people find and use those pages. Google processes this information for us; see Google's privacy policy for more.

We don't use analytics or advertising cookies on seller storefronts, checkout, order or account pages.

Changing your choice

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using Cookie settings in the footer of any page. If you withdraw consent, we stop loading analytics and remove the analytics cookies we can.

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. The ICO's website explains how: ico.org.uk/for-the-public/online/cookies.

Changes

We'll update this policy if the cookies we use change. If we add a new kind of optional cookie, we'll ask for your consent again.
