Set a default VAT rate
Set the default rate used by items and locations that have not been given their own rate.
What to do
- Open SettingsVAT.
- Choose Update beside Default VAT rate.
- Enter the percentage appropriate to your business and food, then choose Update.
- Review the saved rate and the number of items or locations using an override.
- Use Review items if you need to check individual item rates.
- Use Clear when you need to remove a saved default rate.
What happens next
Items and locations set to Default use the saved business rate.
Good to know
Prices are entered inclusive of any applicable VAT. An item’s own rate takes precedence over its location’s rate. Choose the appropriate rate with your accountant; this guide explains the controls rather than deciding the tax treatment.
