Add variants or extras with an option group

Option groups let customers personalise an item, for example, choose a portion size or add a side.

What to do

1. Open an item and select Customer choices.
2. Choose + Save option group to open the new-group editor.
3. Enter a Name that describes the choice, such as “Portion size” or “Make it a meal”.
4. Enter each Option name and Price adjustment. Use 0 for no extra cost, a positive amount for an extra charge or a minus amount for a deduction.
5. Use + Add option for more choices. Remove unwanted options and drag the reorder handles to change their order.
6. For a single choice, set Require at least one selection when customers must choose. For multiple choices, use At least in Multiple selections settings.
7. Choose whether to allow multiple selections, set the minimum and maximum, and allow repeats if needed. Turn on Assortment for a build-your-own box. Choose whether the group needs option-level inventory.
8. Use Preview to test the choices, then save the option group. Return to the item form and save the item.

What happens next

Customers see the group when configuring the item. Selected choices appear with the order and in preparation views.

Good to know

Price adjustments are added to the item’s base price. For a £7.50 pie, an option priced +£6.50 makes the configured item £14.00 before any other selections.
